Secular Franciscan Ministry

The Secular Franciscan Order is a "Way of Life".   The Order is a commitment to a life of Christ, calling for positive effort to promote the Gospel attitude among contemporaries.  Member of the Secular Franciscan Order pray, study and are active in the work of their parishes.  Among the concerns of the Secular Franciscan Order are: Keeping the Commandments of God and the Roman Catholic Church and loyalty to the Vicar of Christ (the Pope).  Forming an attitude of living with Christ practicing justice, charity, love and peace.  Practicing moderation in eating, drinking, dress and avoiding forms of entertainment or other distractions that might halt the progress of spiritual life.  Daily Mass is encouraged whenever possible, along with frequent reception of the Sacraments.  An Office such as the Liturgy of the Hours or the Office of the 12 Our Fathers, Hail Mary's and Glory Be Prayers are said each day, with the examination of conscience at the end of the day.  Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy are encouraged.

The Secular Franciscan Order meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Parish Center.  The Rosary is recited at 7:30 and afterwards a meeting is held at 8:00 pm.
